The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) held a meeting to deploy work for the second half of the year on July 4, 2022.

CAST holds a meeting to deploy work for the second half of the year on July 4, 2022.

The meeting was presided over by Zhang Yuzhuo, vice president and chief executive secretary of the secretariat of CAST.

Zhang recognized all staff members’ efforts in promoting the development of CAST in a well-coordinated way. He stressed to uphold general principles of pursuing progress while ensuring stability and take practical actions to better serve Chinese sci-tech professionals.

He urged that in the second half of the year CAST should organize serial activities to guide Chinese scientific community to follow the spirit of the incoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in accordance with overall deployment of the Central Committee of the CPC, to promote the modernization of governance system and capacity in China.

He called upon to make breakthroughs in CAST’s key tasks such as "promoting employment through scientific innovation", “providing services for sci-tech professionals”, “constructing think tank systems”, “optimizing disciplinary layout of national societies”, “establishing associations for science and technology in tech companies” and “constructing Intelligent CAST 2.0”.

He cautioned that CAST must pay attention to the risks and challenges which might go along with advances of frontier science and technology, and required that the National Communication Center for Science and Technology of CAST under construction be completed on schedule.

Heads of administrative departments and functioning institutions of CAST delivered work reports on their respective major priorities, highlighting CAST’s brand programs of National Science Popularization Day, Week for promoting business startups and innovation across China, World Science and Technology Development Forum (WSTDF), World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS), World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC), World Conference on Science Literacy (WCSL), and China Science Fiction Convention (CSFC).
